Raised in Germany in an insurance-focused family, Julian Teicke attended the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, earning a Bachelor's in Business Administration. Early in his journey, Teicke served on the founding team of DeinDeal, a fast-growing Swiss e-commerce marketplace acquired by Swiss media group Ringier.
Witnessing the archaic paperwork, fractured broker networks, and opaque commission structures governing the European insurance industry, Teicke set out to digitize insurance from the ground up. In 2015, he launched wefox (originally FinanceFox) in Berlin and Zurich. Instead of attempting to cut out insurance brokers, Teicke built proprietary CRM and underwriting software enabling brokers to advise and service policyholders 10x faster.
wefox expanded aggressively across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Italy, and the Netherlands. Backed by Mubadala Investment Company, Target Global, Chrysalis Investments, and SoftBank Vision Fund, wefox scaled into one of Europe's most valuable tech firms, setting global standards for embedded insurance distribution.
