Born in Neuwied, Germany, Dominik Richter studied international business at WHU β Otto Beisheim School of Management before pursuing an MSc in Finance and Accounting at the London School of Economics. Richter was captivated by operations and logistics early in his career, recognizing that the global grocery market was one of the largest consumer sectors yet remained entirely offline and rife with supply-chain inefficiencies.
In late 2011, together with Thomas Griesel and Jessica Nilsson, Richter founded HelloFresh in Berlin with initial seed backing from Rocket Internet. Unlike traditional supermarkets with heavy warehousing overhead and massive food spoilage, HelloFresh built a zero-waste, demand-driven supply chain where farm-fresh ingredients are portioned precisely against customer subscriptions.
Richter orchestrated a relentless global expansion, conquering the highly competitive United States market where HelloFresh overtook Blue Apron to become the dominant market leader. In November 2017, Richter steered HelloFresh to an IPO on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, eventually entering the prestigious DAX 40 index. Richter remains dedicated to high-velocity automation, sustainable packaging, and tech-driven recipe innovation.
