Muskaan Sancheti graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), one of India's premier commerce institutes. During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, Sancheti and Raghav Jhawar realized that while Indians were scattered in tier-1 cities, they were profoundly nostalgic for authentic regional delicacies from their hometowns—whether Surat's Khakhra, Ratlam's Sev, Kolkata's Chanachur, or Bangalore's banana chips.
In 2021, they founded The State Plate, building a verified supply chain of heritage GI-tagged regional food makers across India. On Shark Tank India Season 1, Peyush Bansal was captivated by their sharp operational execution, investing ₹40 Lakhs for 8.5% equity alongside a ₹25 Lakh debt facility.
The State Plate expanded to over 500+ authentic regional varieties with 100,000+ orders. In early 2023, intercity food tech platform JustMyRoots acquired a majority stake in The State Plate, marking one of the swiftest and most successful startup exits to emerge from Shark Tank India.
