Act I: The Catalyst

Varun Sadana graduated in engineering and earned his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode in 2010. He built a stellar corporate career at IBM and Snapdeal before joining meat and seafood unicorn Licious as Senior Vice President of Growth. During the pandemic, as millions of Indian families adopted dogs and cats, Varun observed an explosion in pet humanization. However, the Indian pet care market was fragmented: veterinary clinics were scarce, authentic pet food was often out of stock, and first-time pet parents had nowhere to turn for trusted medical advice.

Act II: The Genesis Bet

In 2021, alongside his Licious colleagues Vineet Khanna and Aman Tekriwal, Varun founded Supertails in Bangalore. Their vision was to build India's premier full-stack digital pet care platform: combining express delivery of verified pet nutrition, accessories, and toys with instant 24/7 online veterinary telehealth consultations and behavioral training.

Act III: Zero-to-One PMF

Varun engineered Supertails' standout differentiator: Telehealth for Pets. Recognizing that transporting a sick pet through chaotic city traffic to an overcrowded clinic is agonizing, Supertails built an in-house team of certified veterinary doctors available for video consultations within minutes. When first-time pet parents experienced empathetic, immediate veterinary care followed by same-day delivery of prescribed medicines and food, customer retention soared.

Act IV: The Flywheel of Scale

Supertails expanded its catalog to over 10,000 pet products from 300+ global brands, serving pet parents in more than 500 Indian cities. The company secured venture backing from top-tier institutional investors including Fireside Ventures, Saama Capital, and DSG Consumer Partners, followed by a $15 million Series B round in early 2024 led by RPSG Capital Ventures.

Act V: Crucible of Fire & Inflection Points

Supertails expanded into high-margin private label pet nutrition, launching Henlo—a baked, clean-ingredient dog food crafted for Indian canine health. Varun launched the Henlo nutritional portfolio, driving rapid repeat subscription purchases and significantly improving platform gross contribution margins.

Act VI: Ecosystem Architecture

Varun Sadana is recognized as the leading visionary of the modern Indian pet economy. He actively champions animal welfare, stray dog rescue vaccinations, and pet parent education. An active angel investor, Varun mentors emerging consumer D2C and healthcare founders.

Act VII: The Long Horizon

Varun is steering Supertails toward becoming India's undisputed pet super-app and preparing for physical veterinary hospital networks. His long-range vision is to create an empathetic, lifelong health and happiness ecosystem for 30 million Indian pets and their families.
