Sulay Lavsi grew up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, steeped in the textile heritage of western India. After pursuing higher education in entrepreneurship in the United States, Lavsi returned home to discover that India's multi-billion-dollar innerwear market was dominated by decades-old legacy brands selling monochromatic, synthetic cotton undergarments devoid of personality.
In 2019, Lavsi launched Bummer in Ahmedabad with a mission to bring sustainable MicroModal fabric (extracted from beechwood trees) and vibrant, body-positive prints to millennial and Gen Z consumers. In Season 1 of Shark Tank India, Lavsi's spirited pitch captivated the sharks, prompting an intense clash between Aman Gupta (boAt) and Namita Thapar (Emcure), who ultimately joined forces to invest ₹75 Lakhs for 7.5% equity.
Bummer expanded aggressively across India, building high brand loyalty and capturing major omnichannel retail distribution while championing sustainable, eco-conscious apparel manufacturing.
