Sougata Basu graduated with honors in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur before joining Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as Principal, advising Fortune 500 corporations on supply chain and working capital management. Basu noticed a massive economic friction in corporate India: while large enterprises struggled with chaotic paper invoices, manual reconciliations, and slow approval workflows, their small MSME suppliers were starved for working capital, waiting 90 to 120 days to get paid.
In 2018, alongside Dhaval Radia, Basu launched Cashflo. Cashflo engineered an integrated B2B payments and AP automation software suite that integrates directly with enterprise ERPs (SAP, Oracle) and enables enterprises to dynamically discount and finance their vendor invoices.
Backed by General Catalyst and Elevation Capital, Cashflo scaled into India's leading vendor financing platform, unlocking billions of rupees in liquidity for thousands of small suppliers across India.
