Harvard to MIT-Backed Energy Leadership
Mateo Jaramillo graduated from Harvard University with a degree in economics before completing his masterโs in theology at Yale University. He pivoted to clean tech, developing early hydrogen fuel cells and industrial energy storage.
Building Tesla Energy & Powerwall
Joining Tesla in 2009, Jaramillo launched and directed Teslaโs stationary energy storage division, creating the commercial Powerpack and residential Powerwall products.
Form Energy & Iron-Air Batteries
In 2017, Jaramillo co-founded Form Energy with MIT professor Yet-Ming Chiang to develop iron-air batteries capable of storing renewable energy for 100 hours at a fraction of lithium-ion cost, constructing massive manufacturing plants in West Virginia.
