Sujat Jain observed that while potato chips had been industrialized by PepsiCo and regional titans into multi-billion-dollar empires, the ₹5,000+ Crore Indian banana chips market remained trapped in unorganized street frying with inconsistent oil quality and rapid rancidity.
Founding Beyond Snack in Alappuzha, Kerala, Jain invested years in perfecting high-temperature automated flash frying, precision slicing, and unadulterated cold-pressed oils. On Shark Tank India Season 1, his disciplined unit economics and scalable manufacturing impressed Ashneer Grover and Aman Gupta, who backed the venture with ₹50 Lakh for 2.5% equity at a ₹20 Crore valuation.
Jain subsequently raised capital from NABVENTURES (NABARD) and institutional investors, scaling Beyond Snack into national supermarket chains, quick-commerce platforms, and global export corridors.
