Pascal Gauthier earned his reputation in high-growth technology as the Chief Operating Officer of Criteo, steering the French adtech firm through hyper-scaling and a landmark NASDAQ IPO in 2013. Following Criteo, Gauthier served as a Venture Partner at Index Ventures in London, assessing the emergence of distributed ledger technologies.
In 2014, Ledger was formed in Paris and Vierzon by eight co-founders including Eric Larchevêque, Nicolas Bacca, and Thomas France. Recognizing the supreme imperative for specialized hardware-isolated private keys in an environment plagued by centralized exchange hacks, Gauthier invested early and became CEO in 2019.
Gauthier professionalized Ledger into an international juggernaut, architecting the Ledger Nano S, Nano X, and Ledger Stax (designed by iPod co-creator Tony Fadell). Ledger also built Ledger Enterprise, securing multi-million dollar custody operations for tier-1 hedge funds, sovereign entities, and digital banks.
