Refugee Roots to Silicon Valley
Born in the Soviet Union, Vlad Magdalin emigrated to the United States as a child refugee, growing up in Sacramento, California. He worked as an Apple software engineering intern before founding an interactive design agency with his brother Sergie.
Ten Years of Rejection to YC Triumph
Frustrated by coding the same CSS, HTML, and responsive breakpoints by hand, Magdalin tried three times over a decade to build a visual web designer, getting rejected repeatedly and accumulating deep credit card debt before Webflow was accepted to Y Combinator in 2013.
The Visual Code Standard
Webflow directly translates visual canvas manipulation into production-grade HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, powering sites for Dell, Zendesk, and millions of creators at a $4 billion valuation.
