Santiago to NYU ITP
Born in Chile, Cristóbal Valenzuela studied economics and business before moving to New York City to attend NYU Tisch School of the Arts’ Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP). Fascinated by creative computing, he explored how deep learning could become a creative brush for artists.
The Founding of Runway
In 2018, Valenzuela co-founded Runway with Alejandro Matamala and Anastasis Germanidis. Runway co-developed the original Stable Diffusion architecture alongside CompVis before pioneering text-to-video generation.
Gen-2, Gen-3 Alpha & Hollywood Adoption
Runway's video generation models are now used across major Hollywood studios, independent film productions (such as Oscar-winner Everything Everywhere All At Once), and creative agencies, backed by Google and NVIDIA at a $1.5B+ valuation.
