Act I: The Catalyst

Amitava Saha graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lucknow and completed his Master's in Industrial Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 1999. Amitava worked in business consulting with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) before joining Brainvisa Technologies as Senior Vice President of Operations. In 2010, Amitava teamed up with Supam Maheshwari to co-found FirstCry in Pune, personally taking charge of physical operations, warehouse networks, and supply chain fulfillment.

Act II: The Genesis Bet

As FirstCry expanded across hundreds of Indian cities, reliable third-party logistics providers frequently failed to deliver delicate baby cribs, strollers, and diapers on time. In 2012, Amitava built an internal logistics arm called BusyBees Logistics to handle FirstCry's deliveries. In 2015, recognizing that the entire Indian e-commerce industry was starving for reliable, high-capacity express delivery, Amitava and Supam carved BusyBees out into an independent, commercial logistics powerhouse: Xpressbees.

Act III: Zero-to-One PMF

Under Amitava's leadership as Founder and CEO, Xpressbees positioned itself as the agile, high-reliability logistics partner for India's largest e-commerce platforms. Signing up giants like Meesho, Flipkart, Snapdeal, and Netmeds, Amitava built customized express delivery pipelines capable of handling high COD volumes and complex reverse logistics for fashion apparel returns.

Act IV: The Flywheel of Scale

Amitava expanded Xpressbees from e-commerce parcel shipping into B2B freight, 3PL warehousing, and cross-border logistics. Securing strategic capital from Alibaba, Investcorp, and Blackstone, Xpressbees deployed automated sorters across dozens of mega-hubs. In February 2022, following a $300 million Series F funding round led by Blackstone, TPG, and ChrysCapital, Xpressbees breached unicorn status at a valuation of $1.2 billion.

Act V: Crucible of Fire & Inflection Points

When supply chains fractured during pandemic lockdowns, Amitava transformed Xpressbees into an essential service network, handling pharmaceutical shipments, medical equipment, and groceries across 20,000+ pin codes. In 2023, Amitava orchestrated the strategic acquisition of Trackon Logistics, dramatically expanding Xpressbees' footprint in SME and non-e-commerce commercial express shipping.

Act VI: Ecosystem Architecture

Amitava Saha holds the rare distinction of having co-founded two multi-billion-dollar market leaders: FirstCry and Xpressbees. Respected for his understated leadership, deep operational humility, and masterclass execution, Amitava actively advises early-stage entrepreneurs in freight technology, IoT tracking, and urban distribution.

Act VII: The Long Horizon

Amitava is preparing Xpressbees for public market listing while scaling its comprehensive enterprise 3PL and cold-chain capabilities. His vision is to establish Xpressbees as the most reliable, automated, and digitally transparent express logistics network in the emerging world.
